Over 20 More Free New Zealand TV Channels on Sony Internet TV

Sony New Zealand are pleased to announce that New Zealand’s Internet TV Network Ziln is now available on Sony Internet Televisions, bringing over 20 free channels of local content into New Zealand living rooms.

“This is very exciting for us because it means Ziln grows from being an Internet TV Network accessible via home computers to being a true lean back, full screen lounge room experience.” says Paul Brennan of Ziln.

Ziln has been operating since September 2009 and currently carries 25 channels of on-demand New Zealand content including music, sport, documentaries, fishing and hunting, aviation, Archives New Zealand’s classic newsreels and more. In fact, thanks to Ziln, anyone can create their own Internet TV channel, so expect to see more channels launching over the coming months.

Sony Internet Television is an IPTV service available across a range of Sony televisions, Blu-ray players and home theatre systems. Ziln now joins other services on the Sony platform like Music Unlimited, Wiggle Time TV, Moshcam and the Billabong channel.

“Sony Internet Television offers New Zealanders a gateway to an enormous and dynamic world of content on-demand” says Matt Walton-Smith of Sony New Zealand. “And now with Ziln as a channel partner, the range of programming has grown significantly with Ziln even offering New Zealanders the chance to create their own IPTV channel”.

Notice to owners of Sony BRAVIA 40 inch LCD TV – Safety Inspection and Rework Programme

We have recently become aware of a potential issue affecting a very limited number of BRAVIA LCD TV models, which were available for purchase in Australia and New Zealand from mid 2007 through to late 2008.

The model numbers are:

  • KDL-40X3100
  • KDL-40XBR
  • KDL-40W3100

This issue has come to our attention via a report from Sony Corporation in Japan that a limited number of these products might contain a component affected by a quality issue, which in a rare number of cases may over-heat and ignite inside the television and may possibly result in the melting of the upper rear casing of the television.

To date, there have been no reports of any damage to other property or physical injuries.

However, as part of our ongoing commitment to customer service and satisfaction, and as a precaution, Sony is voluntarily initiating a programme to perform a free inspection and, if necessary, a free repair.

If you own one of the products mentioned above, we invite you to contact our Customer Contact Centre on 1300 13 7669 (SONY) to arrange an inspection of your BRAVIA TV.

Following your request, Sony’s service representative will contact you to make arrangements to check your TV, and will repair it as promptly as possible if it has the affected component.

In the unlikely event that you are affected by this issue, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you. Your understanding and cooperation in this issue is highly appreciated.

Important: If you still own one of the products mentioned above and if you notice any abnormality (e.g. an unusual noise, smell or smoking) please turn it off immediately, unplug the power cable, stop using the TV and contact us.

Affected BRAVIA models: KDL-40X3100, KDL-40XBR, KDL-40W3100
